History of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Industries

Mazandaran University of Science and Technology (formerly, called Behshahr Higher Education Center) has been a branch of Iran University of Science and Technology till 2012 which it's established in this city since the year of 1994. Industrial Engineering (industrial production trend), along with Computer Engineering (software trend) and mathematical program, have been active since the establishment of this university. Currently, the Industrial Engineering program with 5 faculty members and about 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students (macro systems tendency) is operating at the Faculty of Chemical and Industrial Engineering. Along with the above, two groups of Chemical Engineering and Civil engineering also work at this faculty.

The Chemical Engineering is one of the fields with 5 faculty members and over 300 undergraduate and graduate students (separation processes tendency) and well equipped educational and research laboratories (environmental technology laboratories, Nano-fluid and Thermosynthetic) has a high potential in solving the industrial problems of the region. The group started its activities in 2011 with the trend of transfer phenomena.

The Department of Civil Engineering of this faculty has been set up since 2013. The group has also set up good practices with the industry by equipping laboratories such as soil mechanics, material resistance, and ... and has set a clear future for both students and themselves.

 Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering is a branch of engineering science involved in the design, construction, and operation of processes and factories related to the chemical industry. The chemical industry means those industries in which chemical, physical or biological changes of raw materials into industrial value products are converted. The main field of study of a chemical engineer is on three parts, mixing, engineering, reaction and separation. Based on this, many factories such as refineries , petrochemicals , wood and paper industry , food industry , pharmaceutical and medical equipment , cellulosic industries , polymer industries , chemical industry , and many other industries directly use the science of chemical engineering. They take. This section of chemical engineering, which is associated with large-scale industrial processes , is referred to as process engineering.

Separate processes that are used by a chemical engineer (such as distillation , extraction , etc.), unit operations, include mass transfer operations, heat transfer and displacement movement size . These processes are combined for chemical synthesis or chemical separation .

The three basic physical laws in chemical engineering are the principle of the survival of the mass , the principle of the survival of the energy and the principle of the survival of the size of the movement . Transfer of matter and energy in a process is assessed using a mass balance and energy balance for the whole unit, unit operation or part of it. Chemical engineers apply the principles of thermodynamics , reaction kinetics , and transmission phenomena .
